Amber sees herself as an educator first and a counselor second. Even much of her counseling has a high education component. Over the past decade she has dedicated time to learning the art of educating- from creating engaging presentations to covering unique topics specific to a group.
Contact Amber for Specific Training Needs related to ethics, neurology of the trauma response and treatment, and general or specific trauma topics catered towards your population needs.
Some specific topics ready to go:
-
- Horsen’ Around with Ethics (Texas CEs) a 3 or 6 hour ethics training using horses to aid in experiential activities to more deeply understand our own ethics decision making and managing dilemmas.
- But they Know Better- Working with Children and Youth in a World of Trauma. In this presentation we look at the development of patterns of trauma responses in children and how these responses impact their interactions in the education system. Taking into account both ACE’s and Resiliency factors in our children (and ourselves) we look at ways that perception can make a difference and practical “To-Dos” are developed to support your unique learning environment.
- EMDRIA Approved Basic Therapist Training (Previously Called Part 1 and Part 2) provided through CompassionWorks. Check here for upcoming classes, or contact Amber for a private training for your group.
Supervision
Texas, Online Services
As an LPC-Associate, it is essential to work with a supervisor who supports your development as a professional in the counseling field. My role as a supervisor is not to shape you into a mirror image of myself, but rather to guide you in discovering and strengthening your unique identity as a counselor. With specialized training in trauma, I integrate this expertise into supervision, approaching the process as a collaborative partnership. Together, we will build on your existing knowledge, identify areas for growth, and bridge the gaps in between.
In the early stages of supervision, the focus is on mastering the foundational aspects of becoming a counselor, including understanding and applying statutes and rules in practice, completing documentation, identifying your target population, and expanding your clinical skills. Case reviews are incorporated to highlight strengths, address challenges, and explore strategies to further support client healing. As supervision progresses, the emphasis shifts toward preparing you for independence—clarifying your next steps, fostering confidence in your abilities, and equipping you with the tools to continue growing beyond supervision.
Consultation
Unitied States, Online Services
As professionals there are times we become stuck or stagnant. I provide one-off consultations to help through difficult cases or work through professional challenges. Or, ongoing consultation to help through a time of professional growth. Consultation does not take the place of therapy and I will often recommend you also see a therapist during long-term consultation.
Professional Consultation is appropriate for discussing client cases, support for individuals in private practice needing collaborative support, or those stepping into leadership (clinical director) roles in organizations needing someone to help them with decision making in this time of growth.
EMDR Consultation is available as one-off meetings, or to help you reach EMDRIA Certified status.

There are moments in life that feel overwhelming—times when events shake our sense of identity, alter how we view ourselves, and even challenge our hope for the future. My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process the past, remain present in the here and now, and move toward a future with greater clarity and resilience. The goal of therapy is not to change who you are, but to heal the wounds of the past so you can continue growing into the person you are meant to be.
I specialize in short-term, intensive therapy that focuses on identifying clear goals and working toward them in a concentrated timeframe. While long-term therapy is sometimes necessary, I approach it as the exception rather than the rule. I also collaborate with other professionals by offering targeted trauma-focused interventions, such as addressing specific events or memories, before clients return to their primary provider for ongoing care.
In addition, I work with uniformed service members and frontline professionals—including military personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS providers, child protective services staff, and fellow therapists—supporting their mental health needs while addressing the unique challenges of their demanding careers.
If you are seeking a dedicated clinician to help you achieve your mental health goals, I welcome the opportunity to work with you.
